The Inaugural Heart of America Mascot Challenge concluded on February 14. This challenge gave school mascots a chance to go head-to-head on Facebook and Instagram. Pictures of the mascots were posted, and fans voted for their favorite mascot for eight consecutive days. Unfortunately, Grand View’s mascot Viktor the Viking came in seventh place out of 14. He received only 99 votes on Facebook and 65 votes on Instagram.

Since Viktor didn’t win, Viewfinder decided to raise awareness about the mascot and what it means to campus by digging into the history behind him.
