“The Office” is an early 2000s comedy TV series. It has been running on TV since 2005. They celebrated their 20th anniversary in March of 2025. “The Office” surrounds a day-to-day, 9-5 office life, showing the audience how fun and enjoyable working as a paper salesman, accountant and office manager can be.
I am a huge fan of this show and have watched the series a total of four times, going on five. I have also watched “Friends,” “Parks and Recreation” and “How I Met Your Mother.” I generally love watching classic shows like this one. Many well-known shows, in my opinion, do not come close to comparing to “The Office.”
I was first introduced to “The Office” at the age of 14 when I was in junior high. One of my best friends told me to watch it, and I became obsessed with the show. After getting into the series, I could not get enough of it. I gave the first few episodes a try and was sort of confused about what was going on. Their humor was a bit dry, and I honestly did not find it funny at first. My interest in TV at the time was mostly romcoms. It quickly shifted to comedy after I watched the full series of “The Office.”
“The Office” is about a paper distribution company called Dunder Mifflin. The company’s Scranton, Pennsylvania branch was chosen to be filmed around the clock to be made into a documentary. Basically, cameras follow employees all day to see what they are up to in the office.

The show stars Steve Carrell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson and Jenna Fischer. The series is full of a lively cast who gains big personalities from a couple of episodes into the series.
“The Office” ran on NBC from 2005 to 2013 with nine seasons. “The Office” stars, Michael Scott, who is played by Steve Carrell.Scott is a manager of the Scranton Dunder Mifflin branch who hates authority. He tries to be funny and social anxiety fears him. Jim Halpert, played by John Krasinski, is a salesman who falls for the engaged receptionist, Pam Beesly, played by Jenna Fischer.
Dwight Schrute, played by Rainn Wilson, is the assistant to the regional manager who is for lack of better terms, a suck up to Michael Scott. Dwight tries to one-up his co-worker, Jim, who could care less about how his boss views him.
This series’ bread and butter seems to be Jim pulling the funniest and craziest pranks on Dwight just to put him in his place. Jim and Pam bond over the endless pranks they pull all day long on Dwight.
Steve Carrell’s character was controversial to some viewers. To enjoy “The Office”, you must throw away everything you thought corporate life would be like in the real world.
“The Office” is so simple; full of hilarious jokes that are not for the weak and has a cast that would not be what it is without their characters and writers. A lot of the actors in the show were also wrote for the show’s episodes, which I think is impressive as a viewer. Everyone in the cast seemed to enjoy what they did, because almost every character sticks around for those nine seasons.
The simple connections and relations made between the co-workers in the show create a beautiful ensemble. Their comedic timing, delivery and the deep story line from every small detail is positively insane and so entertaining. You cannot take this show too seriously. I have heard a lot of people claim to dislike the show, cringe at what is going on and cannot get through the first season. I think people need to go into it without any expectations. Sure, “The Office” has sort of an immature humor to it, but I think it is so funny because of how simple and dry the humor is. This show does not contain the live audience watching where you can hear them laugh and react throughout it. There are a lot of awkward pauses and moments that make those scenes feel real, almost as if you are in the office with the cast.
“The Office” has much more to offer other than just the series itself. The streaming app, Peacock, is where the entire series is located. They have “Superfan Episodes” that are basically hilarious quotes, takes and scenes that did not make the final cut of the original series. If you love simple inappropriate humor with a hilarious cast, this show is for you. My only advice is to go in with an open mind and know that there are awkward moments where you cannot look away. I was consumed by how enjoyable, simple and funny the series is. I would not be watching “The Office” for the fifth time in a row if it was not worth it.
