Have you ever woken up and felt the NEED for energy? With seven locations in the Des Moines metro area and Iowa City, Hyper Energy Bar is a favorite for many people. Hyper is a drive-thru building that sells energy drinks and coffee.
The first Hyper was opened in Waukee in 2021. Hyper has grown much bigger after just being a food truck in 2020.
When you pull up to Hyper, there is a menu with a plethora of options. Then you pull up and order at the window; once you order, the employees will ask you for your phone number so you can get points. When you get to 50 points, you get five dollars off of your drink. After you order your drink, you wait at the window for them to hand you the drink.
Hyper is always updating their menus depending on the season. They keep all of their original drinks and add more. I feel this is a good way to keep people interested in the business and always wanting to try new flavors as they come out.
My favorite energy drink at Hyper is called Pink Power. It has strawberry, watermelon and white chocolate; though instead of watermelon, I get raspberry. I can confidently say that this is one of the best drinks that I have ever had in my life. I have tried other flavors, but I always seem to find my way back to the delicious mix of Pink Power; it is my three favorite flavors in one drink.
Regarding their coffee, my favorite is Campfire which is marshmallow, chocolate, brown sugar and cinnamon. I love the taste of their coffee and would choose it over other places like Starbucks and 7 Brew. Their coffee has a lot of flavor, while the other places do as well, I find 7 Brew to taste more like milk than coffee, and Starbucks just gets boring after drinking it for so many years.

At Hyper, you can also get any flavor combos you want; it does not have to be one of the drinks on their menu. I know a lot of people who love making random combinations every time they go.
Hyper is also well priced. A medium 24 oz. drink is $5.50. At Starbucks, you are going to be paying well over that for a good venti sized drink. Hyper also has muffin tops and cake pops, which I have never tried but heard that they are great. If I need a quick and cheap energy boost, Hyper is always my go-to.
They have recently opened locations in Norwalk and Ames. This just shows how fast they are growing and how many people want to see Hyper in more locations. I am extra excited for the Ames location because it is a lot closer to my hometown than the others. This growing company is just located in Iowa right now, but who knows what is to come in the future.
Hyper is one of my favorite places to go, and definitely where a lot of my money goes; but I believe that it is worth it. If you have not yet tried Hyper, give it a shot and you will be able to see what all of the hype is about. If you are already a fan, this is your reminder that you deserve some Hyper today.
