The decision of what to do with free time just got easier because the new B&B Ankeny 12 and B-Roll Bowling has it all. From movies to bowling to food and drinks to an arcade and even a playground, it truly has a little bit of something for everyone. 

B&B Ankeny 12 and B-Roll Bowling not only shows films, but also offers bowling, MX4D experience, screenplay for young children, a full bar and grill and even an arcade. In my opinion, B&B Theatres has every amenity one could ever need to not only experience a film but also be fully immersed in it. There is even an option to sign up for the Backstage Loyalty Program. By signing up for this free program online, points are added to accounts according to the dollars spent. These points can be redeemed for discounts on admissions to the theater or on concessions for free refills on sodas and popcorn.  

The MX4D EFX experience shows a movie that is intensified by the special effects. You will feel like you’re in the movie and living in the moment with the actors. This is something I have never experienced before, and I was shocked by how awesome the effects were. The seat moved with the actions shown on screen, and there are over 10 different special affects you may experience during a movie. The motion effect alone intensified the film from zero to 100. Along with motion, you could experience a neck tickler, leg tickler, wind, air blasts and gusts, seat popping, scents, a rumbling motion, back poker, fog, bubbles, snow, rain or even the flash of strobe lights. This is one of the many reasons why old-school movie theater are being left in the dust.

The bowling doesn’t disappoint either. The dimmed lights and fast-paced environment makes for a fun night out with the family or your friends. There are plenty of lanes with TVs and even leather couches to lounge on while waiting for your turn to bowl. I would go back in a heartbeat and bring my family with me. 

Another main aspect of the movie theater is ScreenPLAY, which is an auditorium, theater room and playground all in one. The theater invites guests to show up 30 minutes before the film’s showtime to play. This is something that was well thought through considering how many people bring their kids to theaters. It allows them the playtime they love before the movie is shown. There is a full-size climbing playground with a slide, brightly colored seats and wall coverings that make the guests feel invited and welcome. Another feature that can be for children or adults is the arcade. 

Jeff Palmersheim, a customer of B&B, took his children to the theater and experienced the arcade for himself. 

“We actually came to take our kids bowling but found out reservations have to be made ahead of time, so we ended up taking our kids to the arcade, and they had a blast; we hope to come back and bowl at some point in the future because it looks awesome and like a lot of fun, especially for kids,” Palmersheim said. “I’ve heard the movie experience is incredible, too.”

I would highly recommend the B&B Ankeny 12 and B-Roll Bowling. I could tell that the workers enjoy their jobs and the friendly, fast-paced and exciting environment they are in. The theater is run in a smooth and efficient way that is shown through the customer service that I received. This family friendly environment is one that stands out among other theaters.The theater is also full of high-end technology and well-thought-out ideas that accommodate everyone’s needs.
