Different, wonderful and amazing are a few words I can use to describe Bubbly Time Tea in the Drake University neighborhood. One of the first things I noticed about the business was that the storefront was not very appealing to the eye. It had nothing to help it stand out from the other businesses. There was a small open sign in the window that illuminated the front door. Off in the top corner was another neon sign that read Bubbly Time Tea.

As I was walking in, the first thing I noticed was a large bulletin board stretched out across the right-side wall with sticky notes posted all over it. The customers wrote little messages or quotes on sticky notes which covered the bulletin board. Some even had pictures that were hand drawn. The sticky notes added a unique feel to the teahouse.

Another thing that was great about Bubbly was that on each table there was a game or a puzzle to pass the time while you enjoy your. A sweet, pleasant aroma also filled the air from the making of the different types of tea. They had over 20 flavors available. They even offered several different varieties of tea whether they as well as slushies on the menu.

When looking over the list of drinks, which can be a little challenging for your first time there and after having a conversation with one of their employees, Jerry, I got a better understanding of the menu. This helped me better comprehend all the different types of tea they sell. Jerry was accommodating, and explained everything to me. He seemed very knowledgeable about their products. I decided to go ahead and try the customer favorite, Special Bubbly Black Tea.

After waiting about four minutes on a soft plush couch, which sits right across from the front of the register. I watched them prepare my milk tea and I finally got to taste this hidden gem. My first sip of my tea was terrific and full of sweet, creamy, robust flavor. It set off a taste bud explosion in my mouth, with its fresh, milky taste and chewy boba balls. The signature milk tea was one of the best drinks I have ever tasted. Bubbly Time Tea is one of Des Moines’ hidden gemsfor sure. This will not be the last time I try one of their delicious drinks.
