Profile: GV Nerf Wars

With many things in the world today dividing everyone there is one thing that has brought all people of faith, ethnicity and gender together, Nerf Wars. Created from the mind of game creator Eli Nichols, Nerf Wars has been intended to not only bring people together from all walks of life but, to allow students at Grand View to let loose and have fun as this year’s semester soon comes to an end. But, there is one looming question I believe on everyone’s mind, what is Nerf Wars? So, we met with game creator Eli Nichols to get all the details.

We asked him what exactly what is nerf wars and what are the rules exactly. He stated, “The rules are that there are contestants (rather that be a student or staff member) that each have their own one target and your goal is go out and assassinate your target by hitting them with nerf ball anywhere on their person. While a person is our hunting for their target they must remember that they are a target themselves”. He continued by saying, “On campus, there are many different safe zones where you can’t attack your target. Those places are your dorm room, in the cafeteria, the Library so people can study, classrooms, any working office from a staff member and any kind of bible study. But, anywhere else is fair game to try and take down your target”. He then elaborated, “Once, you take down your target with the nerf ball, you acquired your target and they have to sign your target card. Then, they will your target will give you their target card which mean you will have acquired the target they were supposed to go after and this process is a circular concept until there is only one left”.

With the game starting with 40 people and now down to anywhere between 15 to 20 participants remaining, we caught up with active participants Danni Finn and Robby Patterson as well as former competitor Rhett Gainey on their strategies on playing the game.
