Java Joes
Java Joes offers free Internet while its customers enjoy a beverage or food item made right in the coffee house. The menu includes vegetarian specials, breakfast and even Indian dishes along with coffee and other beverages. Java Joes is located in downtown Des Moines at 214 Fourth St. and is open from 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m.- midnight Friday and Saturday, and 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday.

Smokey Row
Smokey Row, located at 1910 Cottage Grove Ave., Des Moines, has a variety of soups, sandwiches, salads and breakfast items. This hangout spot has Wi-Fi for its customers to use while studying and enjoying a snack. Some nights it even features live music. Smokey Row is open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 6 a.m.-11 p.m. on Friday, 7 a.m.-11p.m. on Saturday, and 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday.

Mars Cafe
Mars Café, 2318 University Ave., located near Drake University, is a locally owned artisan coffee shop that serves a variety of coffee, tea and fresh baked goods. The café is open from 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Café Diem
Café Diem located on 2005 S. Ankeny Blvd. is a casual place for students to study in booths or tables. It also offers free Wi-Fi for its customers. There is an assortment of beverages to choose from. This includes coffee, lattes, cappuccino and chai. The menu includes a variety of homemade goods such as muffins and scones as well as breakfast sandwiches. Café Diem is open from 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 6 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, 7 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.
