Stoyota Nguyen is a Grand View student who previously played for the women’s volleyball team, fulfilling her dream of competing in collegiate volleyball. However, recent policy changes have required transgender athletes like Stoyota to play on the team matching their assigned gender at birth, leaving her as the only woman playing on the men’s volleyball team. Despite these circumstances, Nguyen continues to progress as a student, make connections with her team, and chase her dreams of collegiate volleyball the best she can.
