Fall sports update
Football
The Vikings football team will enter the season ranked number 6 in the NAIA Coaches’ Spring Poll. The team finished 11-2 last season and made its third playoff appearance. The Vikings look to start this season off with a win Saturday, August 29th against Baker University — currently ranked 15th in the NAIA
Women’s Volleyball
The women’s volleyball team enters the season ranked number 21 in the NAIA Preseason Poll. They proved the rank is well deserved by opening up the season 1-0 beating the College of Saint Marry on August 22. The ladies won the game in convincing fashion by taking three straight sets (25-8, 31-29, 25-17). Their next game will be at the Northwestern Tournament in Orange City, Iowa on August 28-29. They will be playing Taylor University, Doane College, Davenport University and Midlan University.
Men’s Soccer
The Viking men’s soccer team opened up their season against Bellevue University on August 22. It ended up being a scoreless affair, and after two periods of overtime the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The soccer team gets their next shot at a win on August 29 when they face Saint Ambrose University at the Luhrs Athletic Complex on Grand View campus.
Women’s Soccer
The Women’s soccer team will open up the season by playing Robert Morris University on August 29. The game will take place in Chicago, where the women will stay overnight to compete a second day against Cardinal Stritch University.
Men’s and Women’s Golf
Both the men and women golf teams begin their season at the Wolfpack Invitational This tournament begins August 30 and concludes September 1. The invitational is held at Brown Deer Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Men’s and Women’s Tennis
The men’s and women’s tennis teams will start their season at the St. Ambrose Doubles Tournament on August 29 in Davenport, Iowa.
Men’s and Women’s Cross Country
The Viking men and women cross country teams will run in their first meet, the Mustang Gallop, on September 1 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
