Meet Coach Ventsi Stoimirov

Ventsi Stoimirov is the head coach of the women’s soccer team. He started his career at Grand View in 1998.

According to gvviking.com, Stoimirov has had led the Vikings to wins at the Midwest Collegiate Conference three years since 2003 and finished as runners-up three times since 2005. He has also guided the team to Conference Tournament titles in 2003 and 2009 and finished as Tournament runners-up seven times between 2002 and 2012.

Stoimirov has a deep-rooted passion for soccer and loves his job. In fact, he was also selected as the MCC Coach of the Year three times and NAIA Region VII Coach of the Year in 2003. Stoimirov also prides himself on his players and the relationships that he builds with them.

His love for the game came at a young age while he was growing up in Bulgaria. He was a member of three national championship teams at the youth, collegiate and under-17 national team levels. Stoimirov transferred to Graceland University, where he completed his degree in business administration and was an avid soccer player. Along with playing for Graceland, Stoimirov was also a six-year starter for the Des Moines Menace.

We asked Stoimirov about his passion for soccer and how his own experiences have helped in his coaching career at Grand View.
