DOOMTREE

The Minnesota-based hip-hop collective is made up of seven members. The five MC’s, Dessa, P.O.S, Cecil Otter, Mike Mictlan and SIMS also do solo work on the side. Paper Tiger and Lazer Beak produce beats for the collective and other Minnesota musicians such as Lizzo. They are known for their lyrical complexity and wordplay along with their strong and energetic performances.

RDGLDGRN

The trio hip hop group was formed in 2011 and became well known after Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters did the drumming for their single “I Love Lamp,” during his filming of the Sound City documentary. They describe their sound as Indie go-go and each rapper wears a significant color daily.

LIZZO

Lizzo is an alternative hip-hop artist who is known for her group Grrrl Party. Lizzo is a big Grrrl whose music is inspired by what it means to be a plus-sized black woman in the United States. She has released singles such as “Werk” and “Batches and Cookies” that scream confidence in herself.
